This toolkit will provide commissioners with the tools required to commission an effective service for the prevention of strokes in people with atrial fibrillation (AF)
Providing services that improve the identification, diagnosis, risk strategies and management of patients with AF to reduce the risk of a stroke, full implementation of the toolkit in the North West could save at least 600 strokes each year in Greater Manchester, Lancashire and South Cumbria (a population of more than four million).
Through an effective service, quality outcomes for patients with AF are improved and health and social care costs are reduced through the patient's risk of stroke being reduced.
