Reablement Monitor

By Leonard Anderson, Kemuri Added 13th Apr, 2017 Updated 23rd Jul, 2019

The Kemuri unique Reablement Monitor is instantly installed. It's a most efficient way of helping people with mild cognitive impairment to be discharged to independent living, especially those without regular daily visitors. It could save many Delayed Transfer of Care (DToC) days to the NHS.  £240 for one DToC day saved could provide hourly Reablement Monitoring for at least 6 months. It is less than 1% of the cost of a DToC day.

About

It is designed for OTs to deploy for the first 6 weeks after discharge from hospital. It automatically alerts carers of significant changes to normal activity in the kitchen.

After that period, the tamperproof Wellbeing Monitor should be offered to service users.  Families can get involved by using the smartphone app, knowing that a loved one is mobile, drinking, eating and keeping warm.  Alerts can be sent to alarm response centres.

The project is to increase awareness of technology that fills a gap in normal telecare provision and to find partners for more extensive trials.
