LocumTap is a software solution for the management of temporary staffing in healthcare organisations. The system automates clinician-shift matchmaking, improves adherence to standard operating procedures and significantly reduces admin burden for the temporary staffing office. It was built in partnership with Chelsea-Westminster Hospital Trust where it estimated to generate £750,000 per annum in cost benefit.
LocumTap is a software solution for the management of temporary staffing in healthcare organisations. It comprises of two parts: a clinician app and a web portal for temporary staffing office/admin staff.
The app enables clinicians to browse and book locum shifts on demand that are uploaded from our partner NHS organisations. We have created a "digital passport" to centralise all essential documents and mandatory training to ensure up to date revalidation and rapid sign up to the bank. The app also facilitates shift sign off, timesheet submission and payment tracking.
Our HR admin portal reduces the admin burden of running a temporary staffing office. We automate the task of matching clinicians with shifts, collating timesheets, processing payroll, creating data dashboards and NHS Improvement reporting.
Since deployment in Chelsea-Westminster Hospital we have increased bank utilisation of locum shifts to 98.5% from the historic baseline of 60%, eliminating the need for agency and generating cost-benefit of £750,000 per year from converting agency shifts to bank. In addition, we also generate efficency savings from time release of staff equivalent to 2 band 5 staff in a temporary staffing office or 0.2 FTE per department depending on how temporary staffing is managed in the organisation.
